After a long and very cold winter, spring has finally arrived to the wonderful city of Chicago. This portrait of my darling dog, Essie, was taken a few weeks ago when we took a "nature day" in the backyard of my parents' house in the burbs. Essie is such a city dog; she thought she had died and gone to heaven when she saw all of that green grass! I didn't have my camera with me, so I borrowed one from my dad to capture the canine smile that Essie has been known to sport.
